Legendary Elite Coach/President Larry English, is in his 16th year of educating, mentoring and coaching at the high school level. He is currently educating within Niles Township and is the Head Sophomore Boys' Coach at Niles North High School in Skokie, IL. Before Coach English began his journey as an educator, mentor and high school coach, he grew up in Hoffman Estates,attended Schaumburg High School and was a three year varsity player. During his junior season, Coach English started for the Saxons and helped lead Schaumburg to its' first ever trip down state, in 1999. Coach English earned All-Conference honors that season. As a senior, Larry earned All-Conference, MSL West Conference Player of the Year, All-Area Cook County Captain and was deemed as one of the best players in the state, with All-State honors.
Collegiately, Larry earned a full scholarship to Barat College (2001-2003), and transferred to Azusa Pacific University (2003-2005), where he graduated within the Arts of Sociology. By studying social change, understanding the structure of groups and human behavior, Coach English has been able to learn from great educators and develop knowledge, about structures of relationships, that can bridge societal divides. During his freshman campaign, Coach English started on a team that was second in the nation in scoring (101.2 ppg), while averaging 14.5 ppg, and helped lead his team to the Final Four in Kansas City, Missouri. Coach English earned All-Conference, Conference Freshman of the Year (CCAC), National Tournament All-Tournament Team, and was an Honorable Mention All-American. Sophomore season, Larry earned All-Conference and averaged 19 ppg. As a junior at Azusa (2003), Azusa started with a record of 2-3, and finished 32-5. Azusa was also 19-1 in conference (GSAC), won a conference title, conference tournament championship and the Cougars were ranked 2nd in the nation by the time the national tournament arrived. The Cougars lost by 1 point in the second round of the national tournament. Coach English earned All-Conference as a junior.
Senior year, Larry earned All-Conference, National Tournament All-Tournament Team, All-American Honorable Mention for the second time and a led Azusa into the National Championship game. "One of the best experiences of my life, was playing college basketball, as it taught me great values that I still carry with me to this day. I am highly motivated in helping young student-athletes, achieve their dreams of playing basketball at a high level and become something of themselves as adults on and or off the court."
Professionally, Larry played for the Durango, Mexico Los Lobos (2006), before he stepped away from playing and solely focused on giving back to students and the community in which he serves. Currently, Coach English resides in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and looks forward to mentoring and working with more of today's youth,while unlocking their true potential.
